CREEDMOOR CAR SHOW

Despite the fact that there were 2 more car shows in the area on Saturday, 98 cars  attended our first show. They ranged in years from 1923 to 2008. All makes were there to see, from 12 horsepower up to 600 plus horsepower. Some of the cars there were worth over $150,000. Some drivers came as far away as Danville, Va.

The weather cooperated and an estimated 2500 + people enjoyed the cars, food and friends that were there. Some of the food vendors that helped were: Jon's Main Street Grill, Bullock's BBQ, Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse, Andy's Cheese Steaks, Pizza Hut, Eats & Sweets, Nona's, Jerry Norris' Funnel Cakes & Blooming Onions and Creedmoor Drug .

There was a wide variety of all type of other attractions there also:
Ellington-Brim Chevy, JD's Auto Parts, S S Auto Chrome, U.S. Navy Recruiter, Coldwell Banker, Sparrowood Jewelers, The Right Look Detailers, Royal Harris Children's Playground, American Tire, Atlantic Tire,  Nik Nak Paddy Shack, Granville County Sheriff's Dept,  Rolling Thunder Veteran's Group and Champs Tires.

Some of the winners at the show were: Best In Show-Ricky Oakley with a ’37 Ford, Best Hot Rod-Donna Clayton with a ’34  Ford, Best Bike-Kevin Jones with an Orange Custom, Best Original Car-Warren Daniels with a 32 Chevy, Drivers Choice-Ricky Oakley with a ’37 Ford, People’s Choice-Alice Satterfield with a ’34 Ford.

The show was sponsored by Mike Satterfield of Champs Tires, Harry Coleman of the Butner Creedmoor News and Tommy Keith of No More Stumps. The purpose of the car show was to raise money to help support the town volunteer fire department. On Monday morning, Fire Chief Bobby Ray was presented a check for $876 by Champs Tires to help with expenses for the fire department.

Thanks to all that came out and participated and also enjoyed the “old times and cars”. Don’t forget next month’s Cruise In at the old Food Lion beside Andy’s on June the 20th. This is going to be a fund raiser for the Duke Children’s Miracle Network and all money raised will be donated to them. Last year, we donated over $4500 to them in June. Each driver is asked to please help support us this month by bringing an item to “auction” off to help raise money. The country & western band- 86 PROOF- will be there to perform live to help raise money. There will be many vendors and spectacles to see then. Please come out to help us with the kids.
